2010 Summit and Awards Luncheon

Thursday, June 17, 2010

Earle Brown Heritage Center - Brooklyn Center, MN (hotel information)

Featured Speaker: Minnesota Supreme Court Justice Alan Page

Minnesota Campus Compact’s 2010 Summit will convene higher education leaders from across Minnesota to celebrate powerful  campus-community partnerships that produce positive results for students and for communities throughout the state – and to explore opportunities for developing even deeper partnerships, more engaged institutions and citizens, and a more just, democratic, and sustainable world.

In addition to the presentation of the third Carter Partnership Award in Minnesota, the awards luncheon will include the inaugural Minnesota Campus Compact Presidents’ Awards, which invite member presidents and chancellors to give statewide recognition to effective leaders in three categories: students or student organizations, community partners, and faculty or staff “stewards” of civic engagement.

In 2010, Minnesota Campus Compact will once again award the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Partnership Award for Campus-Community Collaboration, in conjunction with the Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Partnership Foundation. The purposes of the Carter Partnership Award are to:

·         Provide recognition for outstanding campus-community partnerships;

·         Increase the number and the effectiveness of campus-community partnerships and promote college/university citizenship;

·         Encourage cooperation among education, community, government, and business leaders on critical social and economic issues; and

·         Increase public awareness of and support for campus-community partnerships.

The award is named for President and Mrs. Carter as a tribute to their lifelong efforts to develop and support safe, healthy, and caring communities throughout the world.
